The things kids say!!! On Memorial Day we went to Mesa (Washington) to visit my dad's side of the family. We all gathered at a park and had a potluck (don't worry, this isn't the funny story)!! The funny story happened while Trent was driving me and the kids to my parents so we could hitch a ride with them.
Emily: "Daddy, are you coming?"
Trent: "No" (in a semi-sad tone...I think he was excited to have the house to himself for a few hours before having to go to work)
Emily: "Why" (Oh how I am begining to DESPISE this question)
Trent: "To make money so we can have our house, car, food, etc"
Emily: "We don't need that!!"
Trent: "Then where are we going to live?"
Emily: "In a tree!!!" (almost said in a "duh" you should know that voice)
Trent: "Well, if we live in a tree, how are we going to eat?"
Emily: "Jesus will give us food!" (again, the same kind of voice)
Trent: "Well what is Jesus going to give us?"
Emily: "Cookies." (stated matter-of-factly)
Trent: "What kind of cookies?"
Emily: "Chocolate ones I think, but I am not sure" (as she was doing this face she makes where she squints one eye and does this thing with her upper lip that I can neither describe nor do and as she was shrugging her shoulders)!
It was SOOOOO funny!! Trent and I were laughing for a while afterwards. It was fun though to see family (most of which I haven't seen in a while)....I do wish Trent could have been there!! (Although we were talking later that night and decided some days Emily's idea sounded pretty nice)!!
Remember the cute days to get through the days of "WHY". I'm glad you came too. We all had some fun, huh? Who would have thought your G-pa would ever get on a zip line?
ReplyDeleteThat story is funny. You're right. Emily is a little peach huh? Fun! Sometimes I think a tree would be great. And chocolate cookies sounds good too!
ReplyDeleteI love it! Emily cracks me up all the time. I so wish we lived closer so I could see her and Ethan more often (it would be good to see you and Trent too :-) We love you!
